Vote for your favorite curbside recycling songs

4th and 5th grade students from Will Rogers Elementary participated in recording songs about curbside recycling with songwriter Monty Harper. We are putting together a poll to find out everyone's favorite song. Listen here for your favorite song and vote by clicking on the link below.

We have finished delivering the cart selection forms to the Thursday's area and have began to deliver the forms to the Monday's area. I have had a couple of emails with questions in regards to the curbside recycling program. I have posted the questions with my responses below. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Thanks

Question

It is not clear if
-- cans should have labels removed.
-- plastics (1 - 7) should have lids removed and discarded in regular trash
-- Plastics should have labels removed (this is near impossible sometimes!)
-- should containers be washed or rinsed out

Nowhere in information sites online are these issues addressed.
These details are important for success of the program --
what if we don't put things in bin correctly?

Answer

We have designed the curbside recycling program to be as simple as possible. It is not required to remove any labels from cans or plastic bottles. We do recommend rinsing out any cans, bottles and containers, however it is not required. There is only one recyclable item that is not accepted in the curbside recycling program and that is glass. We do though accept glass at the Convenience Collection Center at 807 S. Perkins Rd. . . .

Question

The rate fee structure for recycling carts is noticeably absent from the newsletter and website.  Please provide monthly costs for all cart sizes.

Answer

The cost for the curbside recycling program is currently $1.57 a month for all sizes.

I hope everyone is enjoying the rainy day. ( we sure needed it ) We began delivering the cart selection forms in the Friday's service area yesterday. Once you receive your cart selection form please review the cart size choices and select a size that best fits your needs. You are not stuck with the size you select forever. If you find that you need a larger cart or smaller cart later, just call customer service and let them know that you would like to change sizes. Everyone have an awesome evening!
